I think they are actually the perfect thing

I'd guess they date from sometime between the 1910s-1930s

I've found one other example out there very similar to this one down to the details of the engraving (that one housed in a Masonic museum

but I am not sure about the other boxer

and every year (and every stain) has I think just made it better

For me this captures all of the awkward lunkiness of an elephant to perfection, with the just the right matte gray paint for the body, enhanced with cream for the tusk and a bit of very gesturally drawn black for the ears on both sides. LOVE. 7 3 4" x 5 3 4" t. Perhaps a bit of loss to the tail and tusk but only
